in progress: Take and Eat
Take and Eat is a philosophical study of theophagy—the eating of a god—that rethinks religion from the standpoint of the mouth. At its center is the Evic Distinction, a pre-legal logic of discernment organized by taking and sparing, measure and finitude.
Forgiving Philosophy
My most recent book, Forgiving Philosophy, is available on Amazon and DeGruyter’s website.
coming: Serious Drinking
Serious Drinking wants to do literally what its title says: to drink wine, and to do it seriously. That is, it asks the question of the truth of wine and thinks through the relationships that wine inaugurates–with nature, ourselves, others, and (the) god(s).
coming: Hands Off
Hands Off aims to examine three categories of objects that are typically regarded as untouchable: excrement, sacred items, and other individuals’ bodies. This inquiry is informed by the concepts of contagion, taboo, and totem, drawing on psychoanalytic, philosophical, and anthropological perspectives to elucidate the complex interplay between touch and prohibition.
